About the Duties of the Dean
According to § 43 NHG, the Dean’s Office manages the faculty. The Dean chairs the Dean’s Office and implements the decisions of the Faculty Council. The Dean is usually elected for two years from the group of university professors. He or she represents the faculty both within Leibniz University and externally. The faculty administration supports the Dean’s Office in an advisory function.
The Dean’s Office is responsible for all matters of the faculty. It represents the interests of its members in research and teaching and provides the resources necessary to fulfill the academic mission. This includes in particular the planning, management, and control of resources in the areas of staff, budget, space, and buildings.
Further tasks include quality assurance and further development of research and teaching (e.g. infrastructure, teaching projects, cooperations) as well as the organization and administrative support of doctoral, habilitation, and appointment procedures. These tasks are carried out by the administration office of the Dean's Office and the Office of Academic Affairs.
The Dean’s Office and the Office of Academic Affairs are central contact points for students, teaching staff, employees, and prospective students.
Find out more about the tasks and staff members on the Dean’s Office website..
The Dean will offer an open consultation hour in the coming year. Please feel free to use this opportunity to raise any matters that are important to you.
