On September 25, 2025, the members of the Dean’s List of the Faculty of Law set out for Hamburg to visit the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court and the major law firm Noerr Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB.
At 09:20 a.m., it was “departure from platform 4” towards Hamburg for the Dean’s List participants. After a 2.5-hour train ride, the students arrived punctually and in best weather at Hamburg Central Station.
At 1:00 p.m., the first agenda item was already scheduled. The students met Mr. Thomas Meier at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court. He guided them through the beautiful grounds of the judicial forum and the impressive premises of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court. Special highlights of the tour included the in-house library, resembling the one from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (even a plush Hedwig owl was present), as well as the plenary hall, which, among other things, is used for moot courts. Afterwards, the students met in one of the courtrooms with Judge Pia Börd. She discussed the opportunities for appointment as a judge after the Second State Examination, the necessary requirements, the application procedure, and the clerkship stage. Finally, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and have a relaxed exchange with Judge Börd.
After a short lunch break and the chance to explore downtown Hamburg, the participants met at Jungfernstieg for an “after-work event” at the major law firm Noerr Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB. They were welcomed by lawyer and Senior Associate Ilya Hatskevich, who also studied at LUH. After an official welcome at the firm's premises, lawyer and partner Jan-Philipp Meier, lawyer and Senior Associate Roni Deger (alumnus of the Faculty of Law Hannover), Jan-Hendrik Fitzl, as well as lawyer and Associate Anna-Catharina Eben and Leonie Köster introduced themselves and reported about their career paths and their everyday work. Afterwards, the students took the opportunity to ask subject-related questions. Following the official program, the law firm organized catering on its own premises, so participants and lawyers could round off the evening with a nice get-together.
Around 8:30 p.m., the students unfortunately had to start their journey back to Hannover.
With arrival in Hannover around 11:30 p.m., a long, informative day came to an end.
We would like to thank all named individuals for their time and cooperation. We look forward to future events of this kind.
