On March 13, 2026, the Lower Saxony Minister of Justice Dr. Kathrin Wahlmann personally congratulated the ten top graduates in the First and Second State Examinations in Law in the state on their outstanding achievements.

In her welcome address, the Minister offered words of praise and at the same time an appeal to the honorees: “The state law examinations are among the most demanding exams in our educational system. You can be very proud of your achievements. Now, you have choices and a wide range of professional perspectives are open to you—be it in the judiciary, public administration, the legal profession, business, academia, or elsewhere. Outstanding achievement also brings special responsibility. Whatever your next steps will be, wherever your path takes you—be aware of this responsibility. Embrace your decision-making power with joy, but also with care. Contribute with your expertise, integrity, and commitment. Raise your voice and actively participate in the shaping of our constitutional state.”

Afterwards, the Minister presented each honoree with a copy of the book “New Letters to Young Lawyers” in the presence of the President of the State Office for Legal Examinations, Mr. Schuster, and the President of the District Court of Hannover, Dr. Hölscher.

A total of 875 students took part in the First State Examination in 2025, of whom 73.5% passed. While the average grade was 8.87 points (satisfactory), the ten best graduates achieved between 13.32 (good) and 14.54 (very good) points.

In the Second State Examination in Law, nearly 84% of the 700 candidates were successful in 2025. The exam results of the ten best candidates each received the grade “good” with scores between 11.63 and 13.01 points. The average grade for all candidates was 7.97 points.

Of the ten top award-winning graduates of the First State Examination, three studied at the Faculty of Law in Hannover. Among the top ten of the Second State Examination in Lower Saxony, there are also three alumni of the Faculty. The Faculty congratulates Paul Luis Blödorn, Lars Ole Breitmeier, Johannes Wittmeier, as well as Julia Brandt, Björn Kleinert and Dr. Frederike Alt on this special honor and recognition of their outstanding achievements!
