As part of the "European Legal Practice" event, multi-day guest lectures on current topics in European and international law were once again offered during the winter semester 2025/26.
Here, scholars from partner universities of the Faculty of Law within the ELPIS network, invited by the Chair of Public Law, especially European Law (Prof. Dr. Claas Friedrich Germelmann), presented topics from their research areas.
In December, Prof. Dr. Caroula Argyriadis-Kervegan delivered a lecture on the "History of Minority Rights." She addressed the development of the term "minority" throughout history. She also provided examples of how individuals belonging to a minority have been treated at different historical times. Prof. Dr. Argyriadis-Kervegan is a Professor of Legal History at CY Cergy Paris Université, France. Her work focuses particularly on the legal history of France, Germany, and Greece in the 18th and 19th centuries.
In January, Prof. Dr. Krisztina Rozsnyai gave a guest lecture on the topic "Courts and Administration." This lecture illuminated essential questions concerning the relationship between courts and administration in Europe, addressing both judicial control of administrative actions and issues of court administration and procedural law aimed at ensuring a fair trial. The lecture also touched on the legal framework of European Union law and the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as practical examples from European countries. Prof. Dr. Rozsnyai is a Professor at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. Her research and teaching focus mainly on administrative procedural law and administrative law.
Heartfelt thanks to both speakers for the valuable insights into their research areas and the successful events.
Guest lectures will again be offered next semester as part of the "European Legal Practice" event. In addition to the participants of the lecture, the interested public is also warmly invited to attend.
