On 28 October 2025, the members of the Dean's List of the Faculty of Law at Leibniz University Hannover set out for the Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice for a visit with Justice Minister Dr. Kathrin Wahlmann.

At the beginning of the event, the participants of the Dean’s List were given a warm welcome by public prosecutor Ms. Wiebke Gratz and her colleagues with coffee and small snacks. After the official welcome and the initial introductions, the Ministry of Justice and the responsibilities of the Justice Minister were explained in more detail. A highlight of this first half of the event was testing VR glasses with self-programmed software. With the VR glasses, the members of the Dean's List were able to try out their skills as judges in realistic courtrooms regarding civil and criminal hearings.

Around 1:00 p.m., the participants proceeded to the meeting room of Dr. Wahlmann. She was expecting the Dean’s List and, together with her adviser, presented an excerpt from her work as a minister. Afterwards, Dr. Wahlmann answered the individual questions of the students about her work and studying in general. To conclude, Dr. Wahlmann opened the doors to her office and showed the Dean’s List how the Justice Minister works.

The Dean’s List event at the Ministry of Justice not only offered the participants valuable professional insights, but also the opportunity to learn about further perspectives within their studies and legal traineeship (Referendariat). We thank the Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice and Dr. Wahlmann for the organisation and their time, and look forward to future events of this kind.
