Why is Lady Justice blind? She is easy to recognize: a woman with a blindfold, holding scales in one hand and a sword in the other.
This is Justitia, the Roman goddess of justice. Her image is found at many court buildings. She is a symbol of the legal system. But why are her eyes covered? Shouldn't she see who is standing before her? And what does the sword represent?
Answers to these and other questions were provided on November 4, 2025, by Prof. Dr. Ziemann (Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law with interdisciplinary references) as part of this year's KinderUniHannover. He was energetically supported by Volker Stahnke (as Claudius), Marcel Möwisch (as the boy), Méi-Liá Zoua (as Justitia) and Verena Stahnke (as Lili).
