The Universidad de Zaragoza was founded in 1542, making it one of the oldest universities in Spain.

About the University

The history of the Universidad de Zaragoza dates back to the 12th century. Nevertheless, it was not until 1474 that the Pope was asked to recognise the former monastic college as a university. Due to some delays, it took until 1542 to officially establish the university.

The Universidad de Zaragoza maintains close relations with universities from all over the world, so that many international students can be found there.
